Since May 1, 2026, the new agricultural industry standard NY/T 4839-2025 for freeze-dried pet food has been fully implemented, filling the long-standing standard gap in the domestic freeze-dried pet food industry. This standard sets clear and strict regulations on the entire production chain, including raw material selection, freeze-drying process parameters, finished product moisture content, and microbial indicators. According to the new rules, the moisture content of qualified freeze-dried pet food must not exceed 6%, and the total bacterial count is strictly controlled within safe limits, effectively solving the quality inconsistency problem of traditional processed pet food.

Against the backdrop of booming global pet economy, high-quality minimally processed pet food has become the mainstream consumption trend. Different from traditional high-temperature extruded and air-dried pet food, freeze-dried pet food adopts vacuum freeze-drying technology, which retains more than 95% of the original nutrients of raw materials without adding artificial preservatives. With the certification of the new unified standard, Chinese freeze-dried pet food manufacturers have achieved standardized and standardized production, greatly reducing export quality inspection risks and overseas market access barriers.

At present, global market demand for natural, healthy and high-nutrition pet food continues to rise. The implementation of the new industry standard not only optimizes the domestic industry development pattern but also enhances the international reputation and market share of Chinese freeze-dried pet food products. It is expected that the export volume of China's high-end freeze-dried pet snacks and staple food will maintain a double-digit growth rate in the next two years, covering more overseas markets in Europe, America, Southeast Asia and other regions.
